Google-Android-Auto

Google’s redesigned Android Auto dashboard is now available to everyone after a two-month beta period.

After a long wait, Google is finally rolling out the new Android Auto redesign to everyone. The new dashboard will be available starting today, and Google is making the announcement at CES 2023.

The long-awaited redesign was first announced at Google I/O in 2021 and has been in open beta since November 2022. However, limited spots in the beta program made it difficult for some to try out the new UI. But now, it’s time for everyone to experience the refreshed car-friendly interface.

Before we dive into Google’s revamped Android Auto, we find out what exactly is Android Auto:

Google’s Android Auto is an Android-based smartphone app that mirrors the smartphone’s interface on the car’s infotainment system. It is a smart driving companion that helps you stay focused, connected, and entertained. By using your phone’s voice command or touch screen, you can access your favorite apps, music, and navigation without taking your hands off the wheel. With Android Auto, you can make calls, send and receive messages, and listen to music while keeping your eyes on the road. Plus, with a growing number of apps available, you can find what you need to get the most out of your driving experience. Whether you’re a daily commuter or a weekend road tripper, Android Auto has you covered.

Android Auto revamps the dashboard & brings WhatsApp calls to the road

The latest update features a dashboard view that provides additional information without requiring users to switch between pages, as well as a shortcuts dock that allows rapid access to maps, music, and communication. The assistant has been updated to include a new media playback option and useful driving tips. Auto voice calling is also coming to WhatsApp, albeit it’s currently limited to “the latest” Pixels and Samsung phones for now. A more secure and practical user interface is among the primary goals of this long-awaited update.

Digital car key sharing expands to more brands

The Android Auto refresh, dubbed “Coolwalk,” has been eagerly anticipated for some time. Google has also announced plans to expand its digital car key-sharing program to Samsung and Xiaomi later this year. Currently, the program is available for Pixel and iPhone users but is only supported for select BMW vehicles. However, Google has promised that it will soon be available for other brands as well.

Good news for Android Automotive users: High Definition maps are on their way to your vehicle very soon! The use of these maps, which allow for the assistance of lane markers, signs, and road barriers, will make both assisted driving and autonomous driving more reliable and secure. The Volvo EX90 and the Polestar 3 are going to be the first vehicles to get the modification, but there will be others in the future.

In addition to this revelation concerning automobiles, Google also announced a partnership with Spotify to boost media streaming on Android devices. It appears as though this year could be a very successful one for the organisation!
