Tinder has introduced an exclusive invite-only subscription called Tinder Select, priced at $499 per month, aiming to enhance the experience for its “most sought-after” users.

This premium plan permits subscribers to send messages to users they haven’t matched with. Tinder Select is offered to less than 1% of highly active users, with applications opening gradually.

Mark Van Ryswyk, Tinder’s Chief Product Officer, explained, “We know that there is a subset of highly engaged and active users who prioritize more effective and efficient ways to find connections.”

Users who wish to apply for Tinder Select must meet the company’s “5-point Select Screen” criteria, including a verified photo, a bio, at least five interests, a minimum of four images, and specifying the type of relationship they seek. If approved, members can add an exclusive Select badge to their profiles, although they have the option to hide it.

Tinder Select’s launch comes after Match Group, Tinder’s parent company, acquired the invite-only dating app The League, which targets career-oriented singles and charges up to $1,000 per week. Unlike The League, which uses human matchmakers, Tinder Select builds upon its existing plans, starting at $24.99 per month, by offering increased visibility and the ability to message unmatched users.

Subscribers to Tinder Select can send direct messages to non-matched users up to twice a week. However, recipients have the option to opt out of receiving such messages. Tinder Platinum members can already send pre-match messages for $29.99 per month.

Match Group is optimistic about Tinder Select’s potential impact on revenue, with some users potentially spending up to $6,000 annually. For now, the main appeal of Tinder Select lies in its exclusivity and the opportunity to interact with the platform’s “most sought-after” users.
