One of the most popular social media platforms – Instagram is a place where users can share pictures, reels, videos, stories of their daily activities, and much more. In addition to all of these features, Instagram also enables users to send direct messages to the user they follow or other friends, but have you ever questioned the security of your account or the confidentiality of your conversations?

Earlier this year, Meta revealed that they would soon be implementing end-to-end encryption for the Instagram DM function. WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger already support this function. With this function, no one, not even Meta will be able to access your private message.

Here’s how to enable end-to-end encryption on Instagram’s Direct Message:

  • I: Open Instagram and go to the direct message section.
  • II: Tap on compose icon in the top right corner.
  • III: Now, Tap on the lock icon next to the start end-to-end encrypted option.
  • IV: Select all those accounts you wish to start an end-to-end encrypted chat.

Here, your private conversation is now fully encrypted and safe from prying eyes.
