Xiaomi on its social media recently teased the release of its brand new flagship series phone, the Xiaomi 12, boasting that it’ll be the world’s first smartphone powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

The Xiaomi 12 series is expected to have a curved 120Hz AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution. The new series is expected to include the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X models. Both models are expected to pack a 50-megapixel main camera with a triple rear camera setup, and the Xiaomi 12X having a 20-megapixel front camera.

Reports from Digital Chat Station suggest that the smartphone will have an anti-glare glass body. While the Xiaomi Mi 11 was reasonably bigger at 6.81-inches, it is expected that the Xiaomi 12 will be sized at 6.67-inches.

Xiaomi 12 models are expected to support higher rates of fast charging, with the 12X supporting 67W charging when connected to a wire, and 33W wireless charging, and the 12 to support 100W wired charging.

Xiaomi’s founder and CEO, Mr. Lei Jun had announced earlier that the Xiaomi 12 will be using Qualcomm’s newest flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 5G Gen 1. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 chip boasts 20 percent better performance and up to 30 percent more power-efficient than its predecessor the Snapdragon 888.

Talking about the launch date of the product, it is expected to be rolled out in stores across China in December, however, it could very well take until the end of the first quarter in 2022 for a global release.

Some leaks from Twitter also suggest that the Xiaomi 12 series could come with the MIUI 13 stable release, which is planned to be rolled out alongside the phones for other Xiaomi devices as well.

While the Xiaomi 12, may run on the latest MIUI 13, it will be based on Android 11 for its launch, but it is expected that the update to Android 12 will be rolled out soon after.
